It has been awhile since I have blogged. Things have been busy in my personal life but I will be back to my normal routine soon. Since we have last spoke, a few notable things have happened but more than anything else, the Pirates have been simply abusing baseballs.
Mainly it has just been this dude.
But it just isn’t him. The Pirates have now homered 22 times in their last 17 games. Not bad for a team that was projected to have little to no offense this season. Shit, that is good for the 1927 Yankees.
Along with Bell, who is legitimately establishing himself as one of the top hitters in the game (for this season at least), another dude who has been smacking some leather is Gregory Polanco, who was one of the four buccos to go deep in today’s 14-6 win over the Rockies.
Other dudes like Starling Marte, Colin Moran and Bryan Reynolds have also been raking. Overall the Pirates are still only three games over .500. They have a shit ton of injuries to their pitching staff that are a major problem. Who knows how long this will last? All that I do know is that it is fun as hell.
We are seeing a superstar in the making. Not only is Bell hitting at a Cutch, Bonds, Stargell type clip, he is making the entire team around him soooo much better. He kick starts things off and has been a leader for a club that desperately needed one.
Up next, they have a tough three game series against the Dodgers. This could be their toughest test of the season but it could also be where they turn the corner and take the next step. I really hope it is the second one.
Lets go Bucs. Keep hitting, keep winning. Please!
